A huge hit since its summer 2018 release, the Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HSH 2PT CM snagged a Guitar World “Platinum Award” in the magazine’s April issue.
The Paul Riario review and article, entitled “Crushin’ It”, raves how this Satin Orange Crush guitar “packs so much tonal firepower and high-performance features, it plays like an instrument built for virtuosos. Even though you don’t need to be one, it’ll make you feel it won’t take long to achieve.”
While Riario praised several of the axe’s features, it was the baked neck and custom Seymour Duncan pickups that took the cake.
“The standout feature of the Pro-Mod DK24 is its caramelized ‘speed’ neck,” he wrote. “It looks killer, and the torrefaction adds stability with a raw wood feel, plus a lively pop in tone.”
Riario also noted the versatility of the custom Seymour Duncan pickups in an HSH configuration.
“The trio of Seymour Duncan pickups along with its unique wiring configuration offers up a wealth of improved vintage and modern tones,” wrote Riario. “The blade selector does not have the typical five-way wiring scheme, but instead splits certain coils while disengaging others to give you a better-sounding range of single-coil sparkle, mid-range clarity and full-throttle humbucking slide.”
All in all, Riario proclaims that this DK24 2PT “might just be the ultimate Charvel I’ve ever come across, with a price that defies all that it offers.”
